Reflection about Google tools

i cant believe i am finally done with this !!
so, In this blog I am going to explain briefly about my opinion of the following Google tools.
1. Blogs:
In my opinion it’s a great way to spread information and gather also. I can easily connect with my friends and discuss any issue around any published topics
2. Gmail:
It’s very practical, but I don’t use it as often because its only for formal use. But one feature I have like is the upload of pictures in an email for the reason that I can view the information esily of the picture, in addition is quicker than the hotmail.
3. Google alerts:
I already use Google alerts through my Gmail to view the latest fashion trends and news.
4. Google Chrome
It’s the quickest and easiest way to get information, view or download from the internet. With more features like customizing the page and more. But even thought ill still use Firefox because it much quicker in downloading.
5. Google Maps
I use this service whenever I want to know the location of a place, for example, at the beginning of this week I was looking for Dubai Media incorporated location because I thought it was next to JBR, but I found out its still in its same old place.
6. Google reader
As I mentioned in a previous blog entry, it’s a good tool to keep record of the latest news without looking for them they are already there, I just have to subscribe.
7. Google translate
This Tools is useful but it lacks of more details because it not specific.
8. Google Shopping
It provides the same features of any website when you are going to buy something online, but I think that the Google immunity against hackers is stronger.
9. Google News
It’s the best tool so far, I can keep up with news from any news paper and also view news from long time ago.
10. Google Scholar
Because it’s hard to find scientific information online, this tool will enable people to search for them easily.
:P Merry Christmas and happy new year !

Sir Charles Spencer "Charlie" Chaplin

Just recently I was thinking about movies and who is the greatest comedian of all times. Of course the names which crossed my mind where Ben Stellar, Dave chapelle,or Eddie Murphy. But anyway, you have to give some credit to Charlie Chaplin because in his times though of the slow economy and the world war. Nevertheless, the miserable life that he lived, he has become the best innovative comedian of his time, so here is a little something about his life.

(1889- 25 December 1977), gained world fame as a comedian. Born in London, he began his career as music –hall actor. In 1910 he went to America, and form 1915 made many silent films. He created the part of a little tramp in baggy clothes, a bowler hat, and film carrying a bamboo cane, whose comic antics and bewilderment with the world about him amused film audiences everywhere. Among the many silent films in which he appeared were Easy Street, The Immigrant, The Kid, and The Gold Rush. Chaplin formed his own film company in 1918 and wrote and directed all his later films. After sound was added to films he made fewer pictures, but they included successes as Modern Times, The Great Dictator, and limelight for which he also wrote the music.

Japanese theater

Though there has in the past half century been some introduction of western plays and consequently western styles of acting in china and Japan, the role of an actor is both very different in traditional theater and extremely rigid and stylized. The character of a part in a play is revealed at once by the costume and mask or elaborate make up of the actor. The actor uses a wide range of conventional and symbolic gestures to convey the information about the time and place and ambiance of a play. His training is generally much more specialized than that of western counterpart, for from an early age he learns an almost acrobatic control of his body and face.

Abracadabra!!

Has no meaning, derives from a Hebrew phrase meaning “to say blessing”. On amulets the formula was repeated in such way it made up an equilaterals triangle, which was itself believed to have magic qualities. The whole word formed the base of the triangle, and each successive line dropped one letter from the end, so that the apex of the triangle contains the initial “a”. The whole word could also be read from the apex up ward diagonally. Such amulets were said to have the power of preventing or curing a diseases, especially malaria fever.
Similar to Abracadabra, is the magic word “Abraxas”. The word was said to have a numerical value equivalent to 365, since every Greek letter composing the word correspondent to a figure and the sum of these figures was 365. The Gnsotic Basilides (d.140 A.D) gave the name “Abraxas” to his cosmological system composed of 365 skies. The name was later given to amulets on which the word was engraved.

Google Docs Reflection

Recently I have been using Google Docs to help me with my group work projects. It permits me and my collages to edit each other project documents with any formats like HTML, PDF, RTF, Text and Word.. It’s important to note that incase of any misunderstanding, this tool might help in reviewing the work of each person or we can view when or what they have edited the document. Another benefit is, to save the documents in case if the laptop is hacked or suddenly needed a format.
However, when I wanted to upload the whole marketing report so that we can all review it all, unfortunately, I couldn’t because the whole report exceeded the limit of 500k. it wasn’t practical because the if I could upload the whole part, we will be able to comment on the editing and the content itself all save in one place.

Googl Reader

Today I decided to try something new from the Google tools, so I picked Google reader. Lately I noticed that I am not up to date of any news or any events that happened these past few months because of the projects that consumes most of our time and I barely see my family during the week, although we are in the same house. Most importantly, I study marketing and I should not miss out on these events because they might be important to my studies or for the future especially, since I am a business student.

Anyhow, once I entered the Google reader it didn’t seem any difficult to use. It’s a functional source to keep me up to date especially that I can create my own news aggregator form the sites I could benefit from. Another thing is that can share the sites with my colleagues that I see useful and also it’s easy to read the tags and organize them.

Sites that I added:-

  • Leo Burnett
  • Emirates Today

* ill add more sites once i find some which are useful *
